THE PUSHBACK SYSTEM
Push-Back racks can provide the same high density storage as drive-in systems
plus the added advantage of easier load access, as all pallets are stored or
retrieved directly from a front aisle. Forklifts do not enter the rack bay.
Push-Back systems are designed around the concept of over riding, wheeled pallet
carts that travel on slightly canted rails, allowing carts to roll forward to
the front of the bay. Thus loads are always accessed from the aisle. System
configurations can vary from two to five pallets deep and up to three or four
pallet loads high. Bays can vary in width, running the entire length of a
building or concentrated in specific areas.
